The Special Meeting of the Moweaqua Village Council was called to order by Mayor Conlin leading in the Pledge to the Flag. Roll Call was answered by Kenny Long, Mark Traughber, Mike Snyder and Josh Whitney. Employees present were Boomer Neece, Brad Sams, Sandi Callison and Beth Hawn.
Mayor Conlin was appointed Acting President by the Village Trustees at the June 8′”, Regular Meeting but a formal swearing in was not performed at that time. Village Clerk Mischelle Davis called on Mayor Conlin to step forward and be sworn in. Mayor Conlin will serve a two-year unexpired term. The Mayor position will be up for re-election again at the next Consolidated Election to be held April 4, 2023.
Mayor Conlin appointed Steve Jordan to the vacated Trustee seat. No objections were heard, and Mr. Jordan was asked to step forward to be sworn in. Jordan took his seat as Trustee and the meeting resumed.
Mayor Conlin appointed Paige Seitz to the Zoning and Planning Commission to fill a seat vacated by Brice Hennings. There were no objections to the appointment. Mayor Conlin appointed Josh Whitney as Sub-Mayor to fill in when she is unavailable. There were no objections.
Street & Alley Superintendent Brad Sams presented a quote of $3,100.00 from Burgener Excavating for cleaning out ditches South on Putnam and also East on Gorden. After discussion Long made the motion to approve the quote of $3,100.00 from Burgener Excavating for ditch cleaning to be paid from TIF funds, Traughber seconded. Council voting Yes: Long, Traughber, Jordan, Snyder, Whitney and Hayes. No: None.
Sams presented a quote from Ruot Contractors in the amount of $23,470.90 for a drainage tile project. New drainage tile will be installed South of East Main on properties owned by Hedges and Dollar General. This project is also TIF eligible. After discussion Hayes made the motion to approve the quote of $23,470.90 from Ruot Contractors for drainage tile project South of East Main on Hedges and Dollar General properties, to be paid for from TIF funds, Whitney seconded. Council voting Yes: Long, Traughber, Jordan, Snyder, Whitney and Hayes. No: None.
Mayor Conlin requested a motion to adjourn if there was no further business to come before Council. Traughber made the motion to adjourn, Long seconded. Council voting Yes: Long, Traughber, Jordan, Snyder, Whitney and Hayes. No: None.
