On Saturday, September 15th, 2018 the Moweaqua Police Department, with a full monetary donation from HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, was able to purchase a Prescription drop box and an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
The Prescription Drug box is located in the Village Hall foyer (see picture below). It is for everyone to properly dispose of old or unneeded prescriptions. The benefits of this drug box include: The police department can properly dispose of the medication; the drugs are out of your home where anyone can have access; and it helps with the prevention of our nation’s serious opioid problem.
We also obtained an AED to better assist the Fire Department and Community. The Fire Department has recently taken the role as first responders since losing the community ambulance service. The Police Department, who are also first responders, feels it is our duty to be able to provide help for those having a cardiac event and better assist the Fire Department and the citizens of Moweaqua.
We greatly appreciate the donations for both of these items from HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital. They will help keep our community safe.
Please join us at the next Village Board Meeting on Tuesday October 9th, 2018 at 6:30 pm at the Village Hall, where we will recognize the contributions that HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital has made to this department and most of all to this Village.
