When is Village Hall open?

The Village hall (located at 122 N. Main) is open 8:00am-4:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and Thursdays from 8:00am-12:00pm. (Please note that Village Hall is closed during lunch hour from 12:00-1:00pm.) The number for Village Hall is 768-3036.

What offices are located in Village Hall?

The following offices are located inside Village Hall: Mayor, Village Clerk, Village Treasurer, Water Department, Street Department, and Police Department.

When are Village Board Meetings held?

Village board meetings are held at 6:30pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Village Hall. An agenda of the meeting is posted on the front window of the Village Hall 48 hours prior to the meeting.

Can I burn trash/yard waste in the Village of Moweaqua?

Burning of trash or yard waste is prohibited in Moweaqua. Brush pick-up and leaf pick-up are provided by the Street Department. A schedule and guidelines are available at the Village Hall.

When are city clean-up days?

The Village holds “Clean-Up Days” in early May, during which dumpsters are available to allow each household to dispose of unwanted items, junk, appliances, etc. (limited to 1 pickup load per household). Dates, restrictions and guidlines are available upon request (dates are also shown below, but are not guaranteed to be accurate).

2017 Clean Up Days:

May 3rd, 4th, 5th from 7 AM to 6 PM.

May 6th from 7 AM to 12 PM (noon).

Where can I recycle?

Moweaqua no longer offers a village recycling bin. Instead, you may contact Advanced Disposal (217-429-0020) to request a recycling bin for a monthly fee.

What does the Village ordinance say concerning pets?

Residents may own up to 3 dogs & cats (total). but no more than 2 dogs or 2 cats. Dogs and cats must be registered yearly with the Village Clerk. The cost is $2.00. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required. Dogs must be restrained at all times, and may not run at large. Anyone walking a dog must have the dog on a leash and must pick up their dog’s waste. Nuisance barking is not permitted.

How do I obtain a Building Permit?

A building permit application must be obtained from the Village Clerk and approved BEFORE any type of building project is started. This includes building additions, garages, porches, sheds, fences, in-ground pools, driveways, new construction, etc. A fine will be charged for any project started without obtaining a building permit first.

What details can you provide regarding my water & sewer service?

A $100.00 deposit must be paid on all new accounts. The deposit may be refunded to OWNERS after 12 consecutive months of timely payments. For renters, the deposit is retained until they move. Water bills are mailed at the beginning of the month and payment is due by the 15th.

The Park Board of Moweaqua consists of the following board members: Mike Seitz (President), Louis Jordan (trustee), Mark Jostes (trustee), and Lola Allen (secretary). The Park Board meets monthly on the last Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm at Village Hall. These meetings are open to the public. You may contact any board member with questions.
