When are Village Board Meetings held?
Village board meetings are held at 6:30pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Village Hall. An agenda of the meeting is posted on the front north window of the Village Hall and on our website 48 hours prior to the meeting.
Can I burn trash/yard waste in the Village of Moweaqua?
Burning of trash or yard waste is prohibited in Moweaqua. Brush pick-up and leaf pick-up are provided by the Street Department. A schedule and guidelines are available at the Village Hall.
When are city clean-up days?
The Village holds “Clean-Up Days” in early May, during which dumpsters are available to allow each household to dispose of unwanted items, junk, appliances, etc. (limited to 1 pickup load per household). - Pile brush into one pile on the boulevard per property
- Consolidate with neighbors when possible
- Brush must be on the boulevard by 7:30 A.M. on pickup days
- Do not pile around poles or trees
- Any contracted work must be hauled away by the contractor
- Weather permitting
- Pickup is the first and third Monday of each month March-mid October
What are the guidelines for leaf pickup?
- Pile leaves into one continuous narrow pile on the boulevard
- Leaves must be on the boulevard by 7:30 A.M. on pickup days
- Do not include limbs, brush, garbage or other debris
- Do not pile in the bottom of the ditch
- Do not pile around trees or poles
- Weather permitting
- Pick up is according to area starting October 15-Dec 7
- Area 1 will be picked up on Mondays
- Area 2 will be picked up on Wednesdays
- Area 3 will be picked up on Fridays

What does the Village ordinance say concerning pets?
Residents may own up to 3 dogs & cats (total), but no more than 2 dogs or 2 cats. Dogs and cats must be registered yearly with the Village Clerk. The cost is $2.00. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required. Dogs must be restrained at all times and may not run at large. Anyone walking a dog must have the dog on a leash and must pick up their dog’s waste. Nuisance barking is not permitted.
How do I obtain a Building Permit?
A building permit application must be obtained from the Village Clerk and approved BEFORE any type of building project is started. This includes building additions, garages, porches, sheds, fences, in-ground pools, driveways, new construction, etc. A fine will be charged for any project started without obtaining a building permit first.
What details can you provide regarding my water & sewer service?
A $100.00 deposit must be paid on all new accounts. The deposit may be refunded to OWNERS after 12 consecutive months of timely payments. For renters, the deposit is retained until they move. Water bills are mailed at the beginning of the month and payment is due by the 15th.
